Sherene Agama

Undergrad: Princeton, Molecular Bio

Medical School: University of Virginia

Sherene grew up in Montgomery County, MD just outside DC for most of her childhood. She attended Princeton University for undergraduate studies in Molecular Biology, and then obtained her medical degree from the University of Virginia. She is excited to be back close to home and loves to explore the local food scene and many museums/monuments in DC. She remains open minded about career plans but is interested in primary care and working to reduce community health disparities.

Hobbies: Traveling, photography, reading/journaling

Asma Akhtar

Undergrad: University of Missouri–Kansas City

Medical School: University of Missouri–Kansas City

Asma grew up in Northern Virginia and moved to the Midwest (Go Chiefs!) to attend an accelerated undergraduate and medical school program. She is excited to be back in D.C. to continue her training. Her hobbies include baking, taking pictures of food, football, traveling, and binging Netflix shows.

Fun Fact: She has never lost a game of Clue!

Alok Bapatla

Undergrad: Mediciti Institute of Medical Science

Medical School: Mediciti Institute of Medical Science

Originally from Livingston, NJ Alok attended Mediciti Institute of Medical Sciences in Hyderabad, India before moving to D.C. for Pediatrics in Georgetown. He loves working on his car, taking road trips, and collecting state road maps. His career interests include Pediatric Gastroenterology and Psychiatry.

Hobbies: Hiking, Soldering/Wiring electronics, Body work on cars.

Nathan Bryan

Undergrad: Duke University, Biology

Medical School: Touro College of Medicine

Born in San Diego, Nate moved to North Carolina for college and has been on the east coast ever since. He worked for 2 years in D.C. at a food and trade association on food additives before going medical school in New York. He is thrilled to have couples matched successfully at Georgetown with his fiancée who is a plastic surgery resident. He loves playing basketball, volleyball, and exploring the outdoors.

Fun Fact: Lived in Japan for 6 years as a child

Mahak Chopra

Undergrad: University of Michigan – Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience

Medical School: St. George’s University

I was born in India but moved to Maryland when I was two years old. I love traveling and visiting new countries, spending time with my friends, and playing with my dog.

Hobbies: Traveling, cooking, gardening, going to live concerts.

Shruti Gothoskar

Undergrad: Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, India

Medical School: Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, India

Originally from India, I moved to Dubai as a baby. I returned to India after 18 years for medical school. Being exposed to diverse and multinational cultures manifested itself in an urge to explore, resulting in visits to over 20 countries in 4 (hopefully 6 someday) continents. I moved to New York for my masters, prior to my residency. I love painting, going on road trips with my husband and watching reruns of The West Wing.

Candice Mazon

Undergrad:

Medical School: Drexel University College Of Medicine

Born in the Philippines and raised in Jersey, Candice has stayed within the east coast, in Philadelphia for medical school, and now DC for residency. Outside of work, she’s usually taking pictures of her corgi, redecorating her apartment, or trying a new restaurant. She also loves to travel and residency hasn’t stopped her from exploring Thailand, England, and Italy during intern year. She is most passionate about serving and advocating for vulnerable populations, and hopes to be a future adolescent medicine doctor with interests in LGBTQIA+ health and social determinants of health.

Fun fact: I won 1st place Best Actress at a state theater competition!

Erica Rabinovich

Undergrad: Georgetown University, Neurobiology

Medical School: Rowan School of Medicine

Erica grew up in Brooklyn, NY and has bounced around the east coast for her education. She enjoys cooking, exercising, traveling, and spending all her weekends off with friends and family. She is interested in nutrition and lifestyle habits and hopes to incorporate these interests into her future career (once she decides what to specialize in). She can be found walking all over DC or waiting in line at Trader Joes.

Scott Royal

Undergrad: University of North Carolina – Wilmington, biochemistry

Medical School: University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill

Scott studied and swam division 1 at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, then took a four year hiatus to study viruses and vaccine design at UNC – Chapel Hill where he later went to medical school. During medical school he spent a summer helping to set up a Zika laboratory and research study in Leon, Nicaragua. Scott is interested in primary care for LGBTQ+ and other minority under-served populations as well as pediatric vaccine policy. In his spare time he loves exploring DC, travelling to the beach, and hanging out with his cat, Cam, and dog, Ethel.

Sonia Sayed

Undergrad: University of Maryland

Medical School: St. George’s University

I grew up nearby in Gaithersburg, MD and am happy to be back in the DMV after 5 years away from the area! I‘m a big fan of exploring DC (especially its restaurants) and really try to take advantage of all my days off with friends and family. If I’m not out and about, you’ll find me shuffling between new shows and cat videos.

Fun Fact: Got scuba certified in med school!

Fumitaka Sugiguchi

Undergrad: Illinois (BS Finance and Accounting)

Medical School: Cornell University

Fumi grew up in Yokohama and spent much of his teenage years in Chicago. A master of taking time off, he spent 4 years before med school testing out different jobs across the US and took additional two years off during med school to get a masters degree in the UK. He is now a proud resident of Alexandria VA, where he lives with his wife and two cats, Niko and Jasper, and is in love with all the green spaces in DMV area.
