Leslie R. Walker, M.D. is an Associate Professor, Department of Pediatrics, Georgetown University Medical Center. For the last 10 years she has been the Director of Adolescent Medicine in the Pediatric Department. She is also the Medical Director of the Woodson Wellness Center, a comprehensive in school health center located at H.D. Woodson High School. Her professional experience includes research and resident and medical school education, as well as a thriving clinical practice. The research involved areas such as adolescent pregnancy prevention, adolescent substance abuse and depression, and transitional health care service delivery for youth with special health care needs. She received her undergraduate degree at Stanford University in 1984; medical school degree from University of Illinois, her Pediatric residency was at the University of Chicago, Wyler Children's Hospital, and her adolescent medicine fellowship was completed at the University of California, San Francisco in 1996. Dr. Walker has been involved in University service in a number of ways, such as the current President of the Georgetown Women in Medicine. She is also a University Senate member and Medical Caucus member for the last 5 years and a member of the Medical Center Committee on Faculty Appointments and Promotions for the last 4 years. In service outside of the University Dr. Walker has recently been appointed as a member to the study section Health Research Dissemination and Information (HRDI), in the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, (AHRQ). She has also been serving as the President of the Chesapeake Regional Chapter of the Society for Adolescent Medicine (SAM), and is involved in various committees at the National Level in SAM.
